Beta Tester Information
The following are general instructions/differences for our beta testers.
This page was updated on 6 December 2008.
The basic instructions for our beta testers are as follows:
- Read the relevant sections in the manual, which have been recently updated. Of particular interest are the installation and configuration documentation.
- Read the notes below, and determine which, if any, will affect your installation
- Perform the installation and configuration
- Let us know of any issues either with the documentation, or with the operation of the software.
The following issues or desired features not working in the current beta release have been found and are planned to be resolved in either the next beta release, or in a subsequent version.
The following items may affect our beta testers in a negative fashion:
- There is currently no way, other than to factory reset the unit, to remove an Expansion module from the device list in the SiteMonitor Base unit. This means that you should be careful to only connect the expansion modules you want to use with that particular base unit. If you end up with a expansion unit entry in the table for a unit not attached, you will need to go through the reset to factory defaults procedure, which cannot be done remotely.
In addition, the following changes are planned for a future release.
- Pending Feature: Autoping has not yet been implemented.
- Pending Feature: Add firmware upgrade capability for the expansion units into the SiteMonitor PC-side application. The Module side is done, and a test application proves correct operation, but the PC-side software has not been completed.
- Pending Feature: Permit the replacement/rearrangement of Expansion Modules by writing serial numbers to the Expansion Module table.
