System MIB objects

The Sitemonitor products implement the following objects which are defined in the standard mib-2 system mib:

sysDescr (1.3.6.1.2.1.1.1, string, read-only): This is a read-only object which provides a string description of the site monitor's hardware and software version and type. It can be read to determine the current software version installed in the SiteMonitor base unit.

sysObjectID (1.3.6.1.2.1.1.2, object-id, read-only): This is a read-only object which provides a unique id of the type of hardware. This is most useful to commercial SNMP software which wants to determine exactly what type of device it is talking to. This value will be the same for all sitemonitor products with a similar SNMP interface.

sysUptime (1.3.6.1.2.1.1.3, timeticks, read-only): This read-only object provides the number of timeticks (100ths of a second) since the sitemonitor hardware was last reset via software or hardware. NOTE: Due to internal storage restrictions in the sitemonitor, this value will roll over periodically. We believe that this will occur approximately every 248 days. This means that this value will reset to zero occasionally, and does not mean that the sitemonitor has rebooted.

sysContact (1.3.6.1.2.1.1.4, string, read-write): This read-write object is intended to be able to store the contact information for this device. The sitemonitor hardware will store a string of up to 31 characters in this object which can be read with subsequent reads from this object. Attempting to set a string value over 31 characters in length will result in an error.

sysName (1.3.6.1.2.1.1.5, string, read-write): This read-write object is intended to be able to store a human-readable name for this device. The sitemonitor hardware will store a string of up to 31 characters in this object which can be read with subsequent reads from this object. Attempting to set a string value over 31 characters in length will result in an error.

sysLocation (1.3.6.1.2.1.1.6, string, read-write): This read-write object is intended to be able to store location information for this device. The sitemonitor hardware will store a string of up to 31 characters in this object which can be read with subsequent reads from this object. Attempting to set a string value over 31 characters in length will result in an error.

sysServices (1.3.6.1.2.1.1.7, integer, read-only): This read-only object provides a numerical representation of the type of networking services provided by the sitemonitor hardware. The interpretation of this value is described in the System MIB.
